A beautifully timeworn English mill basket, handwoven in willow with substantial iron hardware, side carrying handles, and remnants of its original painted lettering. Baskets of this type, sometimes called skips, were made for hard use in British mills, carrying textiles and materials through the workrooms.
The original locking mechanism remains in place, along with years of wear to the willow, leather, and iron. The interior retains its fabric lining. A beautiful piece of English industrial history, now equally good for blankets, firewood, or simply left as found.
