French Bleached Carved Oak Sideboard

$3,295.00

France, circa late 19th century.

This. Is. Stunning.

A richly carved French oak buffet dating to the late 19th century, executed in the Renaissance Revival taste.

The facade is centered by a pair of deeply sculpted cabinet doors adorned with trophées de chasse—traditional hunting trophy motifs featuring game, foliage, and ribboned cartouches, a decorative vocabulary drawn from 16th century French interiors and revived throughout the 19th century.

Above, the continuous floral frieze spans the length of the case, framed by turned and fluted columns which lend a strong architectural rhythm to the form. Stylized foliate carvings continue across the apron and plinth base, reinforcing the cabinet’s classical symmetry and presence.

Finished in a soft, timeworn bleached oak tone, the surface highlights the depth of the hand-carved ornamentation while offering a lighter interpretation suited to contemporary interiors.

A striking example of 19th century French craftsmanship. This is a sideboard for rooms that favor restraint, texture, and history—spaces where silence is part of the design language.

Because every good room needs a past.
