Artist: Aristide Maillol (1861-1944) is widely regarded as one of the foremost sculptors of the early modernist period. A contemporary of Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard, Maillol’s work is held in major international museum collections including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Musee d’Orsay.
In addition to sculpture, Maillol maintained an active printmaking practice, producing woodcuts and lithographs characterized by their quiet monumentality and classical restraint.
