Signed French Etching by August-Louis Lepère, Late 19th C.

$225.00

France, circa late 19th century.

A lyrical rural scene by celebrated French printmaker August-Louis Lepère, this original signed etching captures a tree-lined country path opening into an expansive pastoral landscape beyond.

Executed in Lepère’s characteristically expressive linework, the composition balances dense woodland shadow with open agricultural terrain—a treatment strongly aligned with the naturalist tendencies of the late 19th-century French landscape tradition and reflective of the broader influence of the Barbizon school.

Two seated figures in the foreground lend a human scale to the otherwise sweeping countryside—a motif often employed by Lepère to anchor atmosphere with narrative presence.

Because every good room needs a past.
