About the Artist: August-Louis Lepére (1849-1918) was among the most important figures in the revival of original etching in France during the late 19th century. A painter, engraver, and illustrator associated with the Symbolist and Naturalist circles of Paris, Lepére produced landscapes that emphasized the poetry of everyday rural life. His work was widely exhibited at the Paris Salon and published in leading illustrated journals of the period, contributing significantly to the resurgence of printmaking as a respected artistic medium.
