One of Willy Guhl’s most recognizable forms, the Handkerchief planter turns a thin sheet of fiber cement into something that appears almost weightless.
Designed in Switzerland in the mid-20th century, its folded corners and sweeping curves give the impression of fabric caught in motion. The form changes completely depending on the angle—part planter, part sculpture.
This example has been left exactly as found, with layers of old paint, exposed gray cement and decades of outdoor weathering across the surface. Small traces of red appear beneath the later finish.
It has earned its surface. We wouldn’t change a thing.
