Switzerland, circa mid-century.
A sculptural planter by Swiss designer Willy Guhl, formed in fiber cement with the folded, undulating profile that made his work so distinctive.
Guhl approached cement almost as if it were fabric, pushing an industrial material into remarkably fluid forms. Here, the sides rise and fall in broad folds, creating a vessel that changes depending on where you stand.
The surface has been left as found, with years of outdoor exposure giving the pale cement a mottled, weathered finish. Equally good planted or left empty.
Because every good room needs a Willy.
